コンサートの余韻というか、バカラック関係なのだが、娘さんの Nikki Bacharach さんが昨年の1月に自殺していたという、驚愕の事実。享年40歳。日本じゃ報道しないからなあ。詳細は下のリンク先に。

Nikkiさんは未熟児として生まれ、それが原因でアスペルガー症候群(障害)を患っていたということだ。それにしても、あまりにショッキングなニュース。
そうそう、バカラックの “Burt Bacharach” というLP(1971年？)のA面の3曲目が Nikki という曲なんだよね。思わず口ずさみたくなる可愛らしいメロディー。LPではインストだが、Hal David による歌詞もある。1966年生まれだから、これが書かれたときは、4歳ぐらいだよねえ。何とも言えない悲しい気持ちです。
